Stained glass window at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in downtown Asheville

St. Mark’s is Turning 100!

St. Mark’s will be

100 in 2023!

Help us raise 100K to fund a Habitat house and revitalize our stained glass!

To commemorate 100 years of gospel ministry, St. Mark’s council is challenging the congregation to raise $100,000 as a special appeal over and above normal giving. While we hope to receive word of commitments, the actual funds may be received any time over the next year, with all gifts to be received by July 15, 2023, the 100th anniversary of the congregation. The majority of this money will go toward a full house sponsorship of a Habitat for Humanity house build.

Additional funds raised will support work to beautify St. Mark’s sanctuary so that it can continue to give glory to God and inspire all who encounter it. The big focus will be to restore the exterior of our sanctuary stained glass windows, but we also hope to be able to address needed repairs to the wood flooring and the pews if the funds raised will allow it. Please prayerfully consider if you can help us celebrate by supporting the 100K for our 100th appeal! You can donate online through this link.

In this informational guide you will find details about the celebrations in 2023, including a special appeal, that will help us to commemorate our centennial.

Events

Meals, concerts, outings, and social gatherings will give us opportunities to spend important time together as a church family. Guest preachers and special service music will enliven our worship throughout the year.

100 Acts of Service

100 Acts of Service throughout the year will help us continue to love and serve our neighbors as we have for the past 100 years.

Anniversary Appeal

A special $100,000 appeal will allow us to restore our sanctuary’s beautiful stained-glass windows, as well as fully fund the building of a Habitat for Humanity house, and in turn, provide hope for a future to a family in need.

As you read through this informational guide, we hope that you mark your calendars for all of the important events, and plan to join us as we give thanks for God’s steadfast love and enduring faithfulness from age to age. God’s not done with us yet- and we can’t wait to see what God has in store for us next!
